Response to COVID-19

Stroud Regional Medical Center is working closely with the Oklahoma State Department of Health as well as monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to ensure we have the most updated information on the rapidly evolving situation.

Visitation Policy as Response to COVID-19

  • In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, SRMC will allow Two Guests At A Time (over the age of 18 years of age) between the hours 11am and 7pm.
  • All guests must screen for COVID-19 at the Emergency Department Entrance and agree to the visitation terms.
  • Any guest failing the screening process will not be allowed into the building.
  • All guests must wear a mask at all times when entering the hospital, and while in the patient room.
  • Guests are to remain in the patient room throughout visit.
  • No food, drink or personal items are to be brought in at this time to the patient, unless approved by the Hospitalist and Infection Control.
  • Visitation with active COVID-19 positive patients is prohibited unless approved by the Hospitalist.
  • Exceptions may be made for compassionate care or end of life visits.
  • Guests who are non-compliant with the COVID-19 visitation policy will be asked to leave and will not be able to return as the guest of the patient.
For more information on visitation, please see the No Patient Left Alone Act item on this website.

Stroud Regional Medical Center’s Response to COVID-19

The safety and well-being of our patients and employees are paramount to us. With that in mind, we want to share an update on precautionary measures we are proactively taking. They include:

  • Response Plan: We have developed a COVID-19 response plan designed to maintain medical services for the communities we serve while protecting staff and the patients under the care of the hospital.
  • Safety: For the health and safety of our patients and staff, we are joining hospitals nationwide to postpone non-urgent outpatient elective surgeries and procedures. Our hospital staff are screening patients and employees for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and are restricting all visitors to the hospital. In addition, we have suspended our auxiliary and volunteer program until further notice. This intervention will help us protect our most vulnerable patients and conserve hospital equipment, beds, and supplies for most urgent cases.
  • Experienced Staff: Our healthcare experts are closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control reports and local health officials regarding coronavirus developments and will continue to follow their guidance. We are fortunate to have a very experienced team through our management group, First Physicians Capital Group, which includes a board-certified infectious diseases physician, epidemiologist, and board-certified infection control specialist, who have multiple years of experience dealing with outbreaks and response plans for diseases such as SARS.
  • Prepared Resources: In the event a person is identified with a potential case of COVID-19, our hospital staff is prepared to quickly provide appropriate medical care and have adequate medical supplies and resources in place. If person-to-person transmission is documented in the counties surrounding the hospital or in Lincoln and Creek counties, we will implement additional safety measures.
  • Prevention: We ask that you help us slow the spread of COVID-19 by practicing the CDC’s guidelines of social distancing and using common-sense hygiene etiquette including handwashing.

Our emergency room will remain open to serve those who are experiencing medical emergencies. If you have symptoms like cough, fever or other respiratory problems, contact your primary care doctor. If you are currently having an emergency, call 911.

If you are concerned about COVID-19 and have questions, please contact the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s COVID-19 Call Center at 877-215-8336.

We stand ready to serve our community and provide care through this challenging period of this evolving public health threat. ___________________________________________________________________________________
